Synagogue Shooter In Germany Faces Life Sentence
JAKARTA - Stephan B, a man suspected of attacking a synagogue in East Germany faces a life sentence. The bullet attack in front of the Jewish house of worship left two people dead.
The prosecutor explained that Stephen was charged with two counts of murder and nine counts of attempted murder. According to prosecutors, the perpetrator had confessed his crime during the investigation process.
The unfortunate incident took place in October 2019. That day, two anti-Semitic gunmen opened fire in front of the synagogue in Halle City.
The two actors were about to break into the synagogue, but failed. Then, both of them shot dead a passing woman and a man who was in the kebab shop around the synagogue.
The attack was carried out while the Jews were celebrating their holiest day, Yom Kippur. The perpetrator viciously broadcasts the attack live.
In May 2020, Home Minister Horst Seehofer said the number of anti-Semitic crimes committed in Germany rose 13 percent last year. He blames the radical right wing.
