PPKM Java-Bali Extended, Cinemas Can Open Food Outlets

JAKARTA - The government loosened the operating rules for cinemas in the extension of the Java-Bali PPKM on October 5-18. Now, cinemas can open outlets and sell food and drinks.

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stressed that the operating capacity of cinemas was still limited to 50 percent.

"Food and beverage counters in cinemas are allowed to open but cinema capacity remains at 50 percent," Luhut said in a virtual press conference, Monday, October 4.

This adjustment to the PPKM policy for cinema operations, said Luhut, applies to regencies/cities that apply PPKM Levels 3, 2, and 1.

Every visitor who will enter the cinema is required to check in on the PeduliLindung application. Visitors who are categorized as yellow in the PeduliLindung application may enter the cinema.

Color categories in the PeduliLindung application have a specific meaning. If the user scans the QR code in this application and a green category appears, it means that the user has been vaccinated against COVID-19 twice and is not currently infected with COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the yellow category is when a new user has vaccinated 1 time or the first dose and is not currently infected with COVID-19.

If the category is red, it means that the user has not been vaccinated or no vaccination data is found, then he is not infected with COVID-19. If the category is black, it means that the user is infected with COVID-19 or is in close contact with a COVID-19 case.

In the extension of the Java-Bali PPKM, Luhut said there was an increase in the number of regions implementing PPKM Level 3 from 84 regencies/cities to 107 regencies/cities.

Then, currently there are still 20 regions that will continue PPKM Level 2 for the next two weeks. Then, there is no area that is still undergoing PPKM Level 4.

According to Luhut, the increase in the number of regions implementing PPKM Level 3 which was previously level 2 is due to the fact that these regions have not met the vaccination target for implementing PPKM Level 2.

"Cities at level 2 that previously received dispensation (on the implementation of PPKM until October 4) are currently unable to achieve the vaccination coverage target," he concluded.

The good news is that there is one area that has been able to implement PPKM Level 1, or you could say the new normal, namely the City of Blitar.

"The government will test the implementation of PPKM Level 1, the new normal for Blitar City. The implementation of PPKM Level 1 will approach normal community life activities," he said.

The implementation of the PPKM Level 1 trial in Blitar was implemented because it had fulfilled the WHO indicator requirements and the target for vaccination coverage of dose 1 was 70 percent and dose 1 for the elderly was 60 percent.
