Police Thwart The Smuggle Of Hundreds Of Kilograms Of Marijuana From Medan Into Jakarta

JAKARTA - The West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit has again uncovered marijuana smuggling from Medan to Jakarta. The dried marijuana-type narcotics were smuggled by land via container trucks.

When confirmed, West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Ady Wibowo confirmed that his members thwarted drug trafficking.

"Investigators from the West Jakarta Metro Police have managed to thwart an attempt to distribute what we suspect is marijuana. Three suspects have been arrested from this network and are still being investigated," said the police chief to VOI, Monday, October 4.

From the results of the search inside the container truck, hundreds of kilograms of dried marijuana were found in large packages ready to be distributed. The marijuana was put into a sack in the container truck.

The raid was led directly by the Head of Drugs at the West Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Danang Setiyo Pambudi and his members.

"So we got a truck traveling from Medan to Jakarta. We have secured the perpetrators while there were three people. Two were carrying and one was receiving the package," he said.

The three suspects are still undergoing in-depth examination at the West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit. Evidence of dried marijuana has also been confiscated at the West Jakarta Police Headquarters. Meanwhile, the case will continue to be developed to dismantle other drug networks.

"The team is still developing to uncover this network. We can't go into details because it's still developing," he said.
