Police Arrest Robbers Who Persecuted Online Taxi Drivers, Police Chief: The Mode As Passengers
JAKARTA - The Bekasi City Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to apprehend the perpetrators of robbery against online taxi drivers in Bekasi City. Until now, the perpetrators are still under investigation by members of the Bekasi City Police Criminal Investigation Unit.
"Yes, that's right, the perpetrator of the robbery with the initials MR (30), has been arrested. Victim Mardin (37) an online taxi driver suffered a wound in the neck," said the Bekasi City Metro Police Chief, Pol Kombes Pol Aloysius Suprijadi when confirmed by reporters, Sunday, October 3.
The police chief said the incident began when the victim, who worked as an online taxi driver, received an order to take passengers to the Cibubur area, East Jakarta. The victim also accepted the order because he had often taken passengers long distances.
When meeting with the perpetrator, the victim did not have the slightest suspicion. The reason, the perpetrator alone climbed into the victim's car.
The victim's vehicle began to drive down the intended road according to the order. When the victim's vehicle passed through the Jatimkar area, Jatiasih District, Bekasi City, suddenly the perpetrator of the street crime, with the mode of an online taxi passenger, immediately pointed a knife at the victim's neck. The perpetrator threatened to slit the victim's throat if his request was not complied with.
"The victim was injured by the perpetrator's knife in the neck. Then the perpetrator took the victim's cellphone," he said.
Seeing that his cellphone had changed hands, the victim tried to fight the perpetrator. However, the perpetrator again stabbed the victim in the back with the knife he had prepared.
When another motorist passed by, the victim screamed for help.
"There was a fight, the victim who had suffered a sharp weapon stab wound pushed the perpetrator. Then the victim screamed for help," he said.
Hearing the screams of the victim, residents and passing motorists immediately went to the source of the sound. Residents then arrested and ganged up on the perpetrator. Luckily, the vigilante action was successfully dispersed by police officers who arrived at the location on the reports of other residents.
"The condition of the victim is currently still under medical treatment, because he suffered injuries from a sharp weapon," he said.
As a result of his actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code with a maximum threat of 12 years in prison.
