Inaugurating Cross-Border Post In Papua, Jokowi Hopes Border Residents Love Indonesia More
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Sota Border Crossing Post (PLBN), Merauke, Papua today. The Sota PLBN is the eighth PLBN built on Indonesia's borders with neighboring countries.
During the inauguration, Jokowi saw that the second PLBN in Papua after the Skouw PLBN was built with adequate facilities.
"I see that the Sota PLBN was built with an integrated concept, complete facilities, there are commercial buildings, there are public and social facilities, employee mess rooms, places of worship, there are markets, pedestrian roads, parking areas, and other supporting infrastructure," Jokowi said in the Secretariat's Youtube video. Jokowi hopes that the Sota PLBN can provide services that make the Indonesian people comfortable when crossing the border to Papua New Guinea.
In addition, Jokowi also hopes that this PLBN can increase security in border areas and encourage the growth of new economic centers.
"And make border communities more in love and proud of our country, Indonesia," he added.
According to Jokowi, the border area is the front porch of Indonesia that represents the face of the nation. So, various facilities in this area must continue to be built so that they can be a representation of Indonesia's progress that makes all citizens proud.
"Since the last 7 years, I have ordered the rebuilding of the PLBN at various points in the country. With a new face, a new look, and new, better ways of serving, which is a reflection of our commitment to build Indonesia from the border," he said. .
