Jokowi: Batik Has Become Part Of The Global Indonesian Lifestyle

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo said batik has become a global part of Indonesia's lifestyle and has been recognized by the United Nations (UN) as a cultural heritage.

This was conveyed by the President through an upload on Instagram social media @jokowi in commemoration of National Batik Day, quoted in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Saturday, October 2.

"Batik has become part of the global Indonesian lifestyle", the President said in his social media post.

The Head of State said that 12 years ago batik was recognized by the United Nations as a world heritage. But long before, batik has become part of Indonesian culture.

He conveyed that batik with all its patterns, symbols, and philosophies has been present in every stage of Indonesian human life, from baby carriers, children's clothing, to adult clothing.

"I am proud to wear batik at every opportunity", said the President.

Through the image in his upload, the President also conveyed a Happy National Batik Day.
