The Dutch Ambassador Discusses Semarang Development, Including The Handling Of Rob Floods With The Mayor
SEMARANG - The Dutch Ambassador to Indonesia Lambert Grijns met with the Mayor of Semarang, Hendrar Prihadi to discuss the challenges of land subsidence in the development of the Central Java capital.
According to the Mayor who is familiarly called Hendi, the cooperation between the Semarang City Government and the Kingdom of the Netherlands has been going on for the past few years.
The cooperation that was established, he said, was related to the handling of floods and tidal waves.
"One of them is the Banger program which the Kemijen community has already felt the benefits of," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 30.
According to Hendi, cooperation to learn from the experience of the Netherlands is still very much needed, especially with regard to the decline in land contours in coastal areas.
Meanwhile, Lambert Grijns said that the cooperation over the past few years has realized various programs.
The meeting also produced recommendations on the use of subsidence studies as a consideration in the design of building construction and area development.
The preparation of the water space, said Grijns, is also important for spatial and economic planning.
