DKI Provincial Government Promises The Cost Of Formula E 2022-2024 Using Sponsors, PDI-P Considers Wishful Thinking

JAKARTA - Member of Commission B of the DKI DPRD from the PDIP faction, Gilbert Simanjuntak, sees that the target of the DKI Provincial Government to get a sponsor to organize Formula E is just a dream.

This is in response to the explanation from the DKI Provincial Government which states that the future budgeting of Formula E will no longer use the APBD.

"The cost of Formula E being paid by sponsors is not fact, but wishful thinking," Gilbert said in a statement on Thursday, September 30.

In a statement from the DKI Communications, Information and Statistics Office, the Formula E self-budgeting plan by seeking sponsors is claimed to be a fact.

It is stated that there will be no more costs incurred from the APBD, both for commitment fees and future implementation costs. However, this was denied by Gilbert.

"Facts are something that has happened so that in this Diskominfo explanation it should not be called a fact, but something that is still in the estimation. This estimate is something that is imaginary / wishful thinking, and something that has no calculated figures," said Gilbert.

Gilbert also doubts that the DKI Provincial Government's claim that Formula E, which is planned to be held for 3 years, will benefit, both in terms of the economy and Jakarta's reputation.

Because, according to him, the initial study on the feasibility study of Formula E compiled by Jakpro had miscalculated, so it had to be revised according to the recommendation of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).

"The favorable opinion in this information is too shallow, because the results of the new FS recommended by the BPK have not been released, this is an opinion without using common sense," said Gilbert.

According to Gilbert, taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic, the implementation of Formula E has actually become more detrimental because the economic condition is still weak.

"Tourists themselves will not come in the current pandemic atmosphere, and Formula E is also not famous so people come. There are no international advertisements regarding Formula E Jakarta itself, where is the basis for calculating tourists to come?" he said.
