After Dropping In July And August, MRT Passengers Started To Increase

JAKARTA - Passengers on the Jakarta MRT fast train will increase again in September 2021. The recorded passengers -- at least until the end of the month -- have reached 383,885 people.

President Director of PT MRT Jakarta, William P Sabandar, said the increase in the number of MRT passengers this month was encouraging.

"We hope that the COVID-19 pandemic can continue to be controlled so that the number of passengers will increase", William said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 30.

The number of MRT passengers in July and August fell drastically. All of this was due to the high increase in COVID-19 cases, so the central government imposed a level four PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) in DKI Jakarta.

Based on data from PT MRT, the number of passengers in July was 134,053 people or an average of 4,324 people per day and in August it was 185,647 people or an average of almost 6,000 people per day.

Whereas previously, in June, the number of MRT passengers was 680,571 people or an average of 22,686 people per day.

According to William, this September, the number of MRT passengers has increased. On Monday, September 27, 14,218 people were using the MRT fast train services.

"The number of MRT passengers in August and September, compared to the number of passengers in last July, increased to 237 percent", he said.

This Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD) of DKI Jakarta Province, recorded the total number of passengers from January to September 27, 2021, reaching 4.4 million people or equivalent to 16,310 passengers per day.

William explained, to encourage passengers to use the integrated highway mode, his party conducted a bicycle trolley trial to provide convenience for passengers who use non-folding bicycles.

A total of two trolleys are provided at the Bundaran HI MRT Station by first registering online via bit.ly/BikeTrolleyMRT on the trial September 27 to 1 October 1, 2021.

The dimensions of a non-folding bicycle are no more than 180cm x 120cm x 70cm. "We will add trolley facilities at Lebak Bulus Grab Station and Blok M BCA Station", he said.
