Airlangga: Golkar And PDIP Are Very Close

JAKARTA - The chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, emphasized the closeness of his party to the PDI-P.

This was conveyed by Airlangga when he directly submitted an application for approval of the PAW (Inter-time change) for the candidate for Deputy Chair of the House of Representatives for Political and Security Coordinator (Korpolkam) to House of Representatives Chairman, Puan Maharani, at the House of Representatives building, Wednesday, September 29.

Airlangga announced Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus as a candidate for Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives replacing Azis Syamsuddin who was a suspect in the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission).

"I was just received by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Puan Maharani. Earlier I had submitted a letter of approval directly for the PAW candidate for the Deputy Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives for Political and Security Affairs. Of course, we had communicated before we scheduled a meeting this afternoon", said Airlangga

Airlangga said that the conversation between him and Puan Maharani did not end here. However, there will be other activities—which Airlangga did not reveal—in the next 1-2 weeks.

"This shows that the Golkar Party and the PDIP Party are very close", said Airlangga.

The Coordinating Minister for the Economy said that there was no difference of opinion between Golkar and PDIP in the House of Representatives.

"I asked the head of the faction if there were opinions from the Golkar party that were different from the PDIP, the head of the faction said no", said Airlangga.

As political parties that support Jokowi's government, he continued, Golkar and PDIP will work in synchrony to ensure the success of the government's program until 2024.

"We are fellow political parties who support Pak Jokowi, all of us have one policy to make the government successful until 2024. Especially in the situation of handling COVID-19, economic recovery, and yesterday we finalized the Ciptaker Law", said Airlangga.
