Becoming The First Qualifying Player To Win A Grand Slam, Raducanu's Outfit Will Be Displayed In The Hall Of Fame
JAKARTA - Emma Raducanu's triumphant US Open outfit will be displayed in the Tennis Hall of Fame after the 18-year-old Briton became the first qualifying player to win a Grand Slam.
Raducanu beat Canadian Leylah Fernandez in the final at Flushing Meadows earlier this month, becoming the first British woman to win a major singles title in 44 years, moving up 128 places to world number 22 after her win.
"Legendary tennis player: preserved," tweeted the Tennis Hall of Fame on Monday, September 27.
"Thank you, @EmmaRaducanu, for donating a memorable #USOpen outfit to the ITHF collection!", Antara reports.
Next up, Raducanu will be playing in his first tournament since stunning the tennis world at Flushing Meadows after securing a wildcard ticket to the WTA 1000 tournament at Indian Wells next month.
"21st US Open champion and rising WTA Tour star Emma Raducanu has been awarded a wildcard to enter the BNP Paribas Open, which is a combined ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 tournament to be held October 4-17, 2021 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden," said the tournament organizer.
Raducanu's entry into the Indian Wells tournament often considered her "fifth major tournament", will see him compete for 1,000 ranking points and possibly earn him a chance to qualify for the WTA Finals in Guadalajara later in the season.
Raducanu entered the Indian Wells draw a day after world number one Ash Barty withdrew from the tournament, as did the two former champions of the tournament, Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams.

Raducanu, who won the US Open without dropping a set, has risen more than 100 places to number 22 in the world since his maiden success in winning a Grand Slam tournament. She is now Britain's number one tennis player.
The young tennis player last week admitted that she was looking for a new coach after stating that she was no longer being coached by former Davis Cup player Andrew Richardson. This decision she made in order to embrace the success of the WTA Tour even more.
