Sandiaga Uno Targets Foreign Exchange Tourism To Reach US$1.7 Billion In 2022
JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno is targeting an increase in performance indicators from the tourism sector and Indonesia's creative economy in 2022. One of them is the increase in foreign exchange for the tourism sector by 470 million to 1.7 billion US dollars.
"It was only discussed yesterday and agreed to achieve in 2022, the value of tourism foreign exchange is slowly creeping up", he said at the 2021 Tourism and Creative Economy Coordination Meeting with the theme 'Recovery and Growth of the Tourism and Creative Economy Sector' online, Monday, September 27.
Meanwhile, the contribution of the tourism sector to GDP will be maintained at 4.2 percent this year and 4.3 percent in 2022. The value of productive exports from the creative economy sector this year is also targeted at IDR 15.95 trillion and IDR 16.83 trillion in 2022.
"The export value of creative economy products rose to 20 billion US dollars", he said.
The former Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta also targets the number of foreign tourists in 2022 to be 1.8 million to 3.6 million people. Then the target for the movement of domestic tourists in 2022 is between 260 to 280 million movements.
Meanwhile, said Sandiaga, the number of tourism workers is expected to grow from 14.3 in 2020 to 14.7 million people.

In terms of the added value of the creative economy, said Sandiaga, this year it is targeted to reach IDR 1,191 trillion and IDR 1,236 trillion next year. Sandiaga said, currently Indonesia ranks third in the field of tourism and the creative economy.
Meanwhile, continued Sandiaga, the United States ranks number 1 with Hollywood. While number 2 is occupied by South Korea with K-Pop.
"We are already in position 3 in the world after the US with its Hollywood, South Korea with K-Pop and Indonesia entering the third position", he said.
