Director General Of KI Allows Warkopi Violation Of RIGHTS
JAKARTA - The Director General of Intellectual Property Rights also raises his voice regarding Warkopi which violates IPR (Intellectual Property Rights). They confirmed that the violation was real.
According to the Director General of KI, Freddy Harris, Warkopi carried the name Warkop DKI which was declared to have registered its trademark. In addition, there are several other reasons that caused Warkopi and its management to be punished.
"If it's a violation, it's a copyright infringement, because it carries the name Warkop. Second, when people watch Warkop people will always remember the old Warkop, that's wrong," said the Director General of KI, Freddy Harris at a virtual press conference today, 27 September .
The violation can end if Warkop buys a license and makes written permission to the DKI Warkop Institute. Written permission is a formal request not via email or WhatsApp message.
"The permit must also be official, made in writing, not only through text, because if you don't get a reply, it means it's not allowed and can be brought to court," he explained.
They asked the management of Warkopi to ask for permission and if they wanted to commercialize this group, they had to pay a license to the Director General of IP.
Freddy Harris said Warkop DKI had registered names since 2004 in class 41, including the use of entertainment services, film production, and television entertainment.
"So there will be an agreement with the related parties, how much will the license pay for, then it will be registered. Warkop DKI (registered) has been 2004 in class 41, Jakarta Warkop Institute was registered on January 21, 2004," he said.
The Warkop party, which consists of Alfin, Alfred, and Sepriadi, apologized to the DKI Warkop Institute for parodying the legendary group. However, the management claims that they have asked permission from Indro's closest people to use the content.
