Shang-Chi Becomes The Highest-grossing Film And Prepares To Surpass Black Widow

JAKARTA - The Marvel film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, became the highest-grossing film during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, quoted from Deadline, Saturday, September 25.

As of Thursday, September 23 local time, Shang-Chi had earned US$183.2 million or Rp. 2.611 trillion, only US$200 thousand behind Black Widow which had earned US$183.4 or Rp.

The Shang-Chi film, which is still showing in theaters, is expected to make $195.2 million by the weekend.

Unlike Black Widow which was released in theaters and Disney+ Hotstar, the Shang-Chi film has only been shown in theaters since its first release. The film will only be available on Disney+ Hotstar on November 12, 2021.

Until now, Fast & Furious 9 remains the third highest-grossing film in the US during the pandemic, earning 172.97 million US dollars or Rp. 2.46 trillion. However, the film is the highest-grossing film globally, earning US$716.6 million or Rp. 10.2 trillion.

Behind Fast & Furious 9, Godzilla vs Kong was in second place with earnings of US$467.87 million or Rp. 6.6 trillion, followed by Black Widow with US$378.7 million or Rp. 5.39 trillion and Shang-Chi with 326 million. US dollars or Rp. 4.6 trillion worldwide.
