Nintendo Releases Mario Bros. Cast List And Release Date, There's Chris Pratt And Anya Taylor-Joy
JAKARTA - Renowned video game designer Miyamoto Shigeru has just announced the release date as well as the voice cast for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. film, MARIO.
The animated film is the result of Nintendo's collaboration with Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment based on the popular video game series. The film is scheduled to be released in North American theaters on December 21, 2022.
Quoting Engadget, Friday, September 24, this project was actually announced in 2017, and in addition to the release date, Nintendo in the Nintendo Direct presentation also revealed who the main voice actor aka Mario, namely Chris Pratt.

Illumination Entertainment in its upload on Twitter also leaked other voice actors, such as Charlie Day who will voice Mario's younger brother, Luigi. And there's also Anya Taylor-Joy, the main character of The Queen's Gambit, who participates as the character Princess Peach, Mario's lover.
Furthermore, comedian Keegan-Michael Key will voice Toad while Jack Black will contribute his voice to iconic villain Bowser. It doesn't stop there, other cast members who will participate in the film include Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong.
Then, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike, Kevin Michael Richardson as the evil Kamek, and finally Charles Martinet, whose character is not mentioned but is claimed to be a surprise cameo.
It seems from the list above, it can be concluded that the studio has chosen the top stars in the industry. It's clear that the presence of Donkey Kong and Cranky Kong could lead to a potential spin-off film, as both Universal Pictures and Nintendo are looking to develop more films after Super Mario Bros.
