Barcelona's Hopes For Guardiola's Future

JAKARTA - Barcelona is reportedly monitoring the situation of coach Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. They hope to bring their former architect back to Catalan.

Last week, Guardiola dismissed reports that he was considering ending his contract at Manchester. He said he was ready to end his deal at the Etihad Stadium until 2021.

However, according to a report in the British newspaper Daily Express, 'La Blaugrana' is aware their former boss could leave in 2020, if certain conditions in his contract are met.

Guardiola has consistently stated that he remains determined to achieve his goal of winning the Champions League with City in the next eighteen months. But he is open-minded about the future beyond that.

The former Spain international previously took a sabbatical. After leaving Camp Nou, Pep did not immediately join Bayern Munich. Will he do the same next season? Still a question.

The report added that while Barcelona are backing their current coach, Ernesto Valverde, Guardiola will be a popular choice to return. Understandably, there is still a sense of frustration that clings to Barca officials over the Champions League results against Liverpool last season

Guardiola enjoyed phenomenal success at Camp Nou as a player and manager, winning a total of 10 La Liga titles and three European Cup / Champions League titles.

This season, Pep Guardiola's activities at Manchester City have indeed been in the spotlight. The coach is only able to bring his team to perch in third place in the standings, 14 points behind leaders Liverpool.
