Discord Trial Features Integrated With YouTube

JAKARTA - Discord has begun testing the integration of a new feature with YouTube, just weeks after Google-owned YouTube forced two Discord music bots (Rythm and Groovy) to shut down.

Reporting from Engadget, Thursday, September 23, the feature is called Watch Together. With this feature, users will be able to create playlists of YouTube videos which can then be watched directly on the chat platform.

The feature is currently only available for friends and family servers. However, Discord is reportedly planning to roll out this feature to the wider Discord community in late October.

Interestingly, users can add videos to the server queue, either by searching directly through the included interface or embedding a link from YouTube. So, users will find it easy to add videos.

Users can even activate a remote button that lets other Discord server members share the ability to control playback.

While not identical to the Rythm and Groovy music bots, users can use Watch Together to listen to music via YouTube on Discord. Later, users may hear or see scrolling ads.

Testing of a similar Discord feature started 10 months ago before it disappeared and reappeared as Watch Together today, and of course the company has re-prioritized that particular feature due to the recent shutdown of the music bot. However, not much information about this trial. The company just said it will always bring new innovations to the users.
