MEDAN - The Tanjungbalai Police Criminal Investigation Unit team, North Sumatra, arrested Sudarman Siregar alias Eman (25). He was arrested on a report that his wife, Dedek Wahyuni Sirait (26), had been abused.

The Head of the Public Relations Subdivision of the Tanjung Balai Police, Iptu Ahmad Dahlan Pandjaitan, said that the perpetrator was suspected of having committed acts of domestic violence against his wife, Monday, July 19.

"My chronology is that the suspect asked the complainant to meet at a BRI ATM on Jalan Yos Sudarso. The perpetrator immediately hit the reporter on the head, lips and nose with both hands," said Iptu Dahlan.

The perpetrator was struck several times. After hitting the victim, the suspect immediately fled.

"As a result of this incident, the complainant objected and reported it to the Tanjung Balai Police. The report was recorded with the number: LP / B / 210 / VII / 2021 / SPKT / POLRES TANJUNG BALAI SELATAN dated July 22, 2021," said Dahlan.

From the report, the Criminal Investigation Unit team checked the crime scene (TKP) and started an investigation.

"Then on Wednesday evening, September 22, officers received information that the suspect was in Hamlet V, Sipaku Area Village, District, Simpang Empat, Asahan Regency," said Dahlan.

At around 23.00 WIB, the suspect was arrested and immediately taken to the Tanjungbalai Police Headquarters for legal proceedings.

"From the results of the examination, the perpetrator and the victim have been separated for a long time, so that the perpetrator suspects that the victim is having an affair," he said.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 44 Paragraph (1) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence.
