Minister Teten Masduki Brings Good News: 15.9 Million SMEs Have Entered The Digital Market

JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Teten Masduki, said that there were 15.9 million MSMEs that had entered the digital or online market. This number increased significantly when compared to the previous year. As is known, the government targets that by the end of 2023 the number of MSMEs entering the digital market will reach 30 million.

This success, said Teten, is supported by the Karya Kreatif Indonesia program which is in synergy with the national movement Proud Made in Indonesia and Proud Tourism Indonesia.

"The joint initiative of BBI, BWI, and KKI has proven to accelerate the onboarding of the digitization of MSMEs nationally. At least 15.9 million MSMEs have been present in online market places, an increase of 99 percent since 2020", he said at the virtual opening of Puncak Karya Kreatif Indonesia (KKI) 2021, Jakarta, Thursday, September 23.

According to Teten, the positive synergy carried out as in the KKI can have a broad impact on the community. This includes the MSME sector as the pillar of the national economy.

"Restoring the nation's economy and preparing MSMEs to excel and compete in the global market, based on creativity and technological innovation", he said.

Furthermore, Teten said that the 2021 KKI event also coincided with the September BBI National Movement in Aceh province. According to Teten, this big movement is a momentum that SMEs in Aceh can take advantage of.

"From the mountains, there is Gayo Arabica coffee which this year exports 9.6 tons or 18 containers to the US and Europe, the marine sector has fish and shrimp which are exported", he said.

Teten is optimistic that the peak of the KKI can encourage the potential of MSMEs in Aceh and can become the pride of Indonesia. Therefore, Teten also invites all parties to shop for domestic products.

For your information, the 2021 KKI Peak activity is a joint stage with Bank Indonesia and ministries/agencies in encouraging optimism and the rise of MSMEs in the pandemic era. This series of events will run from 23 to 26 September 2021.
