Hail Occurs In Depok Due To Transition Season

JAKARTA - Several areas in Depok were hit by heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds on Tuesday, September 21 afternoon. In fact, hail fell in some areas.

Seeing this phenomenon, the Head of the BMKG Public Relations Sub-section, Ririn, said that the hail occurred because it was starting to enter a transitional or transitional season.

"Conditions often occur during the transition period due to the presence of cb or cumulonimbus clouds which have very cold cloud top temperatures," Ririn told VOI, Wednesday, September 22.

Ririn said that the cumulonimbus clouds occur due to the heating energy during the day. Thus, convective clouds form in the late afternoon.

Ririn asked the public to remain calm but always be vigilant in the face of extreme weather that has the potential to cause a hydrometeorological disaster.

"Essentially, the public is asked to be aware of extreme weather, especially during transitions or transitions, such as heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms, and hail," he said.

Heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds occurred from 15.00 western Indonesia time to 18.00 western Indonesia time in Depok, West Java, yesterday. The rain and strong winds also caused trees to fall and billboards toppled in a number of areas in Depok, one of which was on Siliwangi street, Pancoran Mas, in front of Hermina Hospital, Depok.

At the Saladin Square Ruko complex on Margonda street, parked motorbikes and cars were damaged by being hit by a billboard and a roof that collapsed due to rain and strong winds.

There are more than 10 fallen trees scattered in several areas of Depok City. As for the buildings, there were about three damaged buildings, one four-wheeled vehicle, and a number of motorbikes that were damaged due to the falling roof of the building.
