East Java Prosecutor's Office Again Detains Suspects In Bank Jatim Fictitious Credit Cases

SURABAYA - The East Java High Prosecutor's Office has again detained a suspect in a fictitious credit case at Bank Jatim Kepanjen Branch, Malang Regency, after developing an investigation from the previous suspect, namely CF.

The Special Crimes Coordinator (Pidsus) of the East Java Prosecutor's Office, Teguh Ananto, said that the suspect, with the initials AN, was detained as a result of the development of the investigation of suspect CF, who we detained on September 16, 2021.

"Both of them are debtors in the fictitious credit case of Bank Jatim, Kepanjen Branch, Malang," he told reporters in Surabaya, Tuesday, September 21.

As a debtor, suspect AN is estimated to have cost the state Rp11 billion.

In addition to AN and CF, in this case, the East Java Prosecutor's Office previously detained four suspects, consisting of two employees of Bank Jatim Kepanjen Branch, as well as two debtors, each of whose cases have now entered trial.

The corruption case began with the process of realizing credit disbursed by Bank Jatim Kepanjen Branch, Malang, worth Rp. 100 billion to 10 debtor groups from 2017 to September 2019. It was recorded that each debtor group consisted of three to 24 people. the suspects worked together to realize the credit, even though none of the submission processes met the requirements.

The Coordinator of Special Operations Unit, Teguh Ananto, explained the method by borrowing the names of other people to receive credit so that it was as if the credit requirements submitted by the debtor had all met the applicable terms and conditions.

"Due to the improper application process, the credits that have been disbursed have not been paid off and the installments are declared to be bad," he said.

Teguh emphasized that the detention of suspect AN was carried out to speed up the settlement of the case.

"Based on objective and subjective conditions, we have met the requirements to be detained. We have detained them for 20 days," he said.
