Giring PSI: Anies Voters During Pilkada Are Difficult, But Their Money Is Used To Pay For Formula E
JAKARTA - Acting Chairman of the PSI DPP Giring Ganesha criticized the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan for still paying the commitment fee for Formula E while the COVID-19 pandemic was still ongoing.
As is known, in 2019 Anies had paid almost IDR 1 trillion for commitment fees and bank guarantees. In 2020, Anies did not disburse the Formula E budget because the commitment fee was diverted for handling COVID-19.
However, it turned out that Anies again paid a commitment fee of £11 million or around Rp. 200 billion on February 26, 2021
Giring considers that the payment of the commitment fee in 2021 is a betrayal to the citizens of Jakarta, especially those who voted for Anies during the 2017 Pilkada.
"Imagine the residents of DKI who during the last Pilkada chose Mr. Anies and are now having trouble losing their jobs and losing their loved ones, Governor Anies instead uses their money to spend extravagantly on car racing events," said Giring when contacted, Tuesday, September 21.
Giring considers that the Formula E case is the most straightforward example of Anies' lies during his tenure in Jakarta.
Anies, said Giring, always appears as a person who cares about the suffering of the people during the pandemic. Unfortunately, this is not proven by the amount of rupiah spent during the pandemic.
Giring said that this was the basis for the PSI faction members of the DKI DPRD to propose an interpellation right to Anies. He emphasized that the interpellation was not to politically bring down Anies' name.
"PSI does not want to overthrow Governor Anies through the right of interpellation, because asking questions is a constitutional right," said Giring.
"I believe there are still good intentions from other parties in the DKI Jakarta DPRD who want to support the right of interpellation, because this represents the question of the people of DKI Jakarta for what trillions of people's money are used for car racing events," he added.
