97.37 Percent Of Regencies/Cities In East Java Enter The Yellow Zone

SURABAYA - A total of 37 out of 38 regencies/cities in East Java have yellow zone status or the equivalent of 97.37 percent. While the remaining area is still the orange zone, namely the City of Blitar.

"Alhamdulillah, East Java Province has again received encouraging news in handling COVID-19. Currently, the yellow zone in East Java has reached 97.37 percent, out of 18 districts are in the yellow zone", said East Java, Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Thursday, September 16.

For this achievement, Khofifah expressed her gratitude and gratitude for the hard work of all parties, including Forkopimda (Regional Leadership Coordination Forum), Regency/City Government, health workers, universities, religious leaders, media, private sector, religious leaders, community leaders and the active role of all the people of East Java who have worked hard together to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

"At the same time, our positivity rate reached 1.85 percent. This is the lowest record during the pandemic, even far below the provisions imposed by the WHO, which is less than 5 percent of the positivity rate", she said.

According to Khofifah, the zoning position of an area is an important thing at this time. Because the development of the COVID-19 risk map zoning is one of the references in determining actions and policies.

Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic, which is not yet known when it will end, has greatly limited and affected people's activities in almost all sectors. Mainly, in the midst of the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) level in East Java.

"Every policy or action that will be taken must be adjusted to the level and zoning of the risk map of an area, in addition to its level position", she said.

Not only the yellow zone has increased, Khofifah explained, various elements in handling COVID-19 have also improved. For example, the number of PCR tests in East Java is by WHO standards (>40,479 tests/week).

Based on data.covid19.go.id as of September 14, 2021, the last week was at 147,912 tests/week. So that the East Java positivity rate is at 1.85 percent.

The bed occupancy rate (BOR) has also decreased. From the data from July 3, 2021, to September 14, the BOR of the Hospital ICU decreased from 78 percent to 18 percent or decreased by 60 percent. Hospital isolation BOR decreased from 81 percent to 13 percent or a decline of 68 percent. Likewise, the BOR of the Emergency Hospital decreased from 69 percent to 18 percent or decreased by 51 percent.

"The bed occupancy rate or BOR in East Java is already very far below the WHO standard, which is below 60 percent", she said.

Khofifah continues to invite the entire community to remain disciplined in carrying out health protocols. This is important because the discipline of carrying out health procedures is one of the keys to protecting ourselves and those around us from the transmission of COVID-19.

"Again I invite all of us to be disciplined in carrying out health protocols. We still have to work hard and fight against this pandemic. Let's continue to obey health protocols and accelerate vaccination to get to East Java Rise", she said.
