Widow Masterminded The Theft And Embezzlement Of 40 Rental Cars In Depok

JAKARTA - A gang of 40 rental car thefts and embezzlements in the Depok, Bekasi, Jakarta and Kerawang areas has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Depok Metro Police Headquarters. The gang was led by a woman with the status of a single parent or widow.

"The ranks of the Depok Metro Police Headquarters Satreskrim managed to apprehend five gangs of embezzlement or rental car theft masterminded by DD, a widow, a resident of Harjamukti, Depok City," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Police Commissioner Yusri Yunus accompanied by Head of Depok Metro Police, Kombes Imran Siregar, Wednesday. 15th of September.

This gang of rental car theft or embezzlement was arrested on the report of one of the victims of the car owner, namely T, a resident of Depok who claimed that the Innova type car was rented by DD but never returned. Then, continued Yusri, he (T) reported to the Depok Metro Police.

The Depok Metro Police Satreskrim immediately tracked down where DD was always a tenant, and without taking long, DD was arrested in the Cimanggis area. From DD's arrest, the police managed to arrest four other perpetrators, namely Angga, Bambang, Nemit and Nasep.

According to him, their actions were carried out in a guerrilla manner by renting a rental car in several areas of Depok, Jakarta, Bekasi and Kerawang.

"After successfully renting, the vehicle is not returned to the owner and sold to someone else without a BPKB letter," he said.

From the results of the examination and investigation, it turned out that the five gangs had been in action since last July 2021 and had succeeded in embezzling around 40 units of various brands of cars.

The Head of Criminal Investigation at the Depok Metro Police, AKBP Yongen, added that the stolen cars were sold cheaply and quickly to others with a price range of Rp. 60 million to Rp. 70 million per unit. The car, said Yongen, was sold without BPKB, only vehicle registration. Meanwhile, Yongen continued, the normal market price per car unit is Rp 200 million.

"From the results of the arrests, there are 31 cars out of 40 units that have been secured by the Depok Metro Police. Seeing the low selling price, it is possible that buyers will be dragged into it as a middleman.” Yongen said

"Until now, his party continues to explore the case and hopes that the people who bought the stolen vehicle will be returned because we will pursue it wherever they go," said Yongen.
