More Than 50 Witnesses In The Tangerang Prison Fire Case Have Been Examined, When Will The Suspect Be Announced?
JAKARTA - The police are examining eight witnesses again in an effort to uncover the Tangerang Class I prison fire case. A total of 54 witnesses were examined during the investigation process.
"It's still there. There are approximately 8 (witnesses)," said the Director of General Crime Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Tubagus Ade Hidayat, to reporters, Thursday, September 16.
The eight witnesses were Tangerang Class I prison officers and inmates. This examination is to explore the allegations of negligence and intentional negligence behind the deadly fire.
"There are some that need to be deepened by the officers and there are also assisted residents," said Tubagus.
Although he has examined dozens of witnesses, Tubagus does not want to comment on the potential suspect. He only emphasized that in due time everything would be made clear.
"In time it will be announced," said Tubagus.
Previously, Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, stated that he had pocketed a potential suspect in the process of investigating the Tangerang Class I prison fire case. This potential suspect was related to the alleged negligence.
"For Article 359 of the Criminal Code, a potential suspect already exists," said Rusdi.
The Tangerang Class I prison caught fire on Wednesday, September 8, in the early hours of the morning. As a result, 48 inmates died due to the incident.
