Looking For Supporting Evidence To Determine The Suspect In The Tangerang Prison Fire Case, 2 Prisoners Are Examined And CCTV Is Analyzed

JAKARTA - Police examined two residents of Tangerang Class I prison and CCTV footage to investigate the case of a deadly fire that killed 44 inmates. The police have already identified potential suspects in this case.

"Today, there are about two inmates that we are investigating," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus to reporters, Wednesday, September 15.

The investigative team is currently analyzing the CCTV footage. The goal is to find supporting evidence in revealing the mastermind behind the deadly fire.

"Then investigators are still conducting further investigations, including analyzing existing evidence, be it CCTV and so on," said Yusri.

Later, after the examination and analysis of evidence is completed, the investigator will conduct a case. After that, the suspect will be identified in the case.

"Later, when everything is complete, then we plan to hold a case to determine whether there are suspects here," said Yusri.

Previously, Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, stated that he had pocketed a potential suspect in the process of investigating the Tangerang Class I prison fire case. This potential suspect was related to the alleged negligence.

"For Article 359 of the Criminal Code, a potential suspect already exists," said Rusdi.

The Tangerang Class I prison caught fire on Wednesday, September 8, in the early hours of the morning. As a result, 44 inmates died due to the incident.

Dozens of prisoners were not able to save themselves. Because when the fire broke out, the prison cell was locked. While the officers did not have time to open the cells of the victims.

The police stated that there were allegations of negligence and intentional crime behind this.
