Allegedly Disposing Of Waste In Bengawan Solo River, Police Check Home Industry Owners

SOLO - The Central Java Police Ditreskrimsus team is investigating a woman with the initials M, one of the home industries making alcohol in Sukoharjo, who is suspected of contaminating the Bengawan Solo River.

"The woman with the initials M, a resident of Sukoharjo who owns a cottage industry is currently being questioned as a witness by the Ditreskrimsus team of the Central Java Police," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes M. Iqbal Alqudusy, on the sidelines of the visit, in Solo, reported by Antara, Tuesday, 14 September.

According to M Iqbal Alqudusy, the police already have two pieces of evidence related to the waste disposal case, but they have not named M as a suspect. M is still a witness.

However, the police have found some evidence that M dumped waste from his home industry into the Bengawan Solo River. He was proven to dispose of his industrial waste in a tank and use an open tub into the river.

According to him, the owner of the cottage industry in Sukoharjo, there are two companies that were also investigated regarding the alleged waste pollution. The two companies are in Polokarto and Bekonang Sukoharjo sub-districts.

He said investigators had so far conducted investigations into two large companies. The two companies previously received administrative sanctions from the Central Java Provincial DLHK in 2019. One in Mojolaban, and the other in Polokarto. Entrepreneurs in Mojolaban already have an WWTP to accommodate waste with large tubs.

However, his party is still investigating whether the two companies have implemented administrative sanctions from the DLHK or not. If not, they will be punished.

Previously, the Ditreskrimsus Polda Central Java had directly inspected and conducted investigations in a number of locations, including Mojolaban District, Sukoharjo Regency, where there were 45 cottage industries making alcohol or ethanol (ciu) raw materials.

In addition, the Central Java Police team also checked in Polokarto District, Sukoharjo Regency, there were 88 home industries for making alcohol.

According to the Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes M. Iqbal Alqudusy, investigators suspect that the waste was dumped on purpose in the river that flows into Bengawan Solo. However, all are still under investigation.

He said that for a long time, coordination with the Provincial DLHK had been carried out intensively. The coordination was carried out in several investigations and investigations related to environmental pollution.
