Simone Biles Testifies Before Senate About Sexual Harassment Of Gymnastics Coach Larry Nassar

JAKARTA - Olympic champion Simone Biles is one of the gymnasts who will testify before a US Senate panel this week to highlight how the FBI has been slow to deal with reports of sexual abuse by former US gymnastics team doctors Larry Nassar.

In addition to Biles, some of the biggest names in US gymnastics who will appear before the panel include MckYla Maroney, Maggie Nichols, and Aly Raisman.

Citing Antara, Tuesday, September 14, the four female athletes were some of the hundreds of victims of sexual harassment by Nassar, when he was still an internal doctor at USA Gymnastics, under the pretext of routine medical checks.

Wednesday's hearing comes after Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz in July issued a 119-page report that said the FBI's Indianapolis office "failed to respond to Nassar's allegations with the highest seriousness and urgency it deserves and needs".

The investigation began in 2015, and a number of erroneous steps have been taken, such as having to wait five weeks to have a telephone interview with one of the athletes who became victims in September. The report also said the federal investigation bureau failed to interview some of the other victims.

A considerable number of errors, the report concluded, allowed sexual harassment to continue for several months.

Horowitz is also scheduled to testify about the report's findings on Wednesday, alongside FBI Director Chris Wray.
