8 Victims Of Deadly Fire At Tangerang Prison Identified, One Of Them Is A Portuguese Citizen
JAKARTA - The National Police's Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team identified eight bodies of inmates who died in the deadly fire at the Class I prison in Tangerang. One of the bodies is a foreign national (foreigner) from Portugal.
"The DVI team managed to identify 8 bodies, of which one of them is a foreigner from Portugal. So the seven are Indonesian citizens, one is Portuguese," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters on Monday, September 13.
The eight bodies were identified as Anton bin Idal, Lim Anggie Sugianto bin Go Shong Weng, Sarim bin Hakam, Rezkil Khairi bin Nursin, Sumantri Jayaprana, I Wayan Tirta Utama, Petra Eka, and Ricardo Ussumane Embalo.
The majority of them were identified based on DNA and medical tests. But, there are also identified from fingerprints.
With the addition of eight bodies, a total of 18 victims have been identified. While the rest are still in progress.
"So the total number that has been identified so far is 18 people. So from 41 there are 23 more bodies that have not been identified," said Ramadhan.
Meanwhile, the Tangerang Class I Prison caught fire on Wednesday, September 8, in the early hours of the morning. As a result, 44 inmates died due to the incident.
