Dog Meat Is Not Included In The Commodity To Be Traded, Perumda Will Evaluate Market Operations
JAKARTA – The sale of dog meat is not in accordance with the regulations of the Pasar Jaya Regional Public Company (Perumda). This was conveyed by the General Manager and Public Relations of Perumda Pasar Jaya Gatra Vaganza. Gatra's statement also confirmed the existence of unscrupulous traders selling dog meat at Pasar Senen Blok III, Central Jakarta.
According to Gatra, dog meat is not included in the commodities that can be traded in the market network owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
"We can clarify that it is true that there are traders from Perumda Pasar Jaya who sell the dog meat at Pasar Senen Block III," said General Manager and Public Relations of Perumda Pasar Jaya Gatra Vaganza when confirmed in Jakarta, Sunday.
PD Pasar Jaya also promised to evaluate market operations so that the sale of commodities outside the existing regulations would not happen again.
"In the future, this will be a lesson for us, evaluation in terms of market operations so that in the future such incidents do not happen again," said Gatra.
Previously, a video showing the practice of selling dog meat at Senen Market, Central Jakarta, was spread through social media.
The video was recorded by Animal Defenders Indonesia (ADI). In the viral video, ADI includes an explanation of the search results regarding the dog meat trade in Jaya Senen Market.
"One stall that we investigated admitted that they sell at least 4 dogs a day. They have been operating for more than 6 years," said ADI through its Instagram account, @animaldefendersindo, Friday.
DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria has also threatened to take firm action against dog meat sellers at Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta, if the results of the inspection have been completed based on information from Animal Defenders Indonesia (ADI).
