MRT Jakarta Electricity Disruption, PLN Confirms The Supply Is Safe

JAKARTA - MRT Jakarta has experienced operational disruptions since 13:41 WIB this afternoon. PT MRT Jakarta said the disruption occurred due to a cut in the electricity supply.

However, this was denied by the State Electricity Company (PLN) UID Jakarta Raya. PLN ensures that the disturbance does not originate from the company's electrical system.

"The electricity supply on the PLN side is confirmed to be in normal condition," said SRM Communications and General Affairs of PLN UID Jakarta Raya Ririn Rachmawardini in a statement, Friday, September 10.

Ririn explained that PLN had also coordinated with MRT management regarding the problem of the disturbance. Until now, the cause of the disturbance is still under the MRT's internal investigation process.

Previously, Plt. Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta, Ahmad Pratomo, said that the disruption to the Jakarta MRT was caused by problems with the electricity supply.

"There has been a disruption in the operation of the Jakarta MRT at 13:41 WIB due to the interruption of the operational electricity supply," said Tomo.

Tomo explained that when the disturbance occurred, there were 305 passengers trapped in four train sets in the middle of the track. Currently, the passenger has been evacuated.

"All passengers on the 4 train series that are still on the track have been safely evacuated to Istora Mandiri Station, Lebak Bulus Grab, and Block A," said Tomo.

To further investigate the disturbances that occurred, MRT Jakarta stopped its operating hours more quickly, which was originally until 21.30 WIB to 19.00 WIB.

This policy was taken by taking into account the safety and security of passengers, as well as the need for further inspection to determine the main cause of the electrical disturbance that occurred.
