BPK And BPKP Cooperate To Improve Data Quality
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) are collaborating to improve data quality. This step is taken to speed up the follow-up of the results of the BPK examination.
The chairman of BPK Agung Firman Sampurna explained that the synergy between the two agencies is very much needed to improve the governance of state finances. So that budget management can be carried out transparently.
"BPK and BPKP want to sharpen the synergy and coordination through cooperation which will be described in more detail in the memorandum of understanding," he said in a statement, Friday, September 10.
The cooperation that has been agreed in the memorandum of understanding includes the exchange of data and information. Agung said, this collaboration was realized in the use of data or information from the information technology system developed by the BPK and BPKP.
This includes the use of audit reports and BPKP review results for BPK, as well as the use of audit reports and the provision of BPK opinions regarding audits of state financial management and responsibility.
In addition, other collaborations include the use of auditors, implementation of joint audits on certain issues, coordination in order to fulfill requests for calculating state or regional losses from law enforcement agencies, education and training.
Agung said, there are also research and development and other activities according to the agreement. The expansion of the scope of cooperation between BPK and BPKP through synergies in the implementation of inspection and supervision as well as institutional capacity development is an effort to face current challenges.
"In the implementation of Good Governance, the concept of The Three Lines of Defense has developed to explain the relationship of various parties which are divided into three lines of defense of the organization. The Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) as an independent and objective unit plays a role in the third line of defense. With this concept, we have an important role in the implementation of national development goals so that they are accountable. This is also in line with the role of BPK in BPK's 2020-2024 vision, "he explained.
Meanwhile, Head of BPKP Muhammad Yusuf Ateh said, one of the crucial aspects for both parties in establishing synergy and collaboration is the ease of exchanging data and information.
Moreover, Yusuf continued, the government has designed and implemented various interventions to deal with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, both on health, social and economic aspects. So, said Ateh, the emergency conditions inherent in the pandemic period require extra-fast handling that requires policy discretion.
"The signing of the memorandum of understanding between the two parties, we believe can increase the synergy and coordination between these two institutions so that they can increase effectiveness and expand the area of overseeing state financial accountability," he said.
