Manchester City Has The Most Expensive Squad In Europe, Valued At 1.08 Billion Euros

JAKARTA - Manchester City continues to establish itself as the club with the most expensive squad among all clubs in Europe's top five leagues, followed by Manchester United who ranks second. The findings were carried out by the independent research group CIES Football Observatory based in Switzerland.

The annual CIES study compiles figures from all of Europe's elite teams to calculate the cost of each squad based on transfer fees, including bonuses.

This year's edition of the report, as reported by Antara, said City spent around 1.08 billion euros (IDR 18.19 trillion) for their current number of players, while United followed in second place with 1.02 billion euros (IDR 17.18 trillion).

Paris Saint-Germain is third with an expenditure of 939 million euros (IDR 15.82 trillion), while Real Madrid is fourth with 787 million euros (IDR 13.25 trillion) and Chelsea with 780 million euros (IDR 13.14 trillion).

Liverpool (672 million euros or IDR 11.32 trillion) and Arsenal (630 million euros or IDR 10.61 trillion) are the other two English teams in the top 10. Barcelona is in ninth place with spending 578 million euros (IDR 9.73 trillion).
