Closed Meeting At The KPK's Red And White House, DPR Guarantees That There Is No Intervention

JAKARTA - Commission III DPR RI held a closed hearing meeting with the Supervisory Board and KPK leadership outside the DPR building. This meeting was held at the KPK's Red and White House. Even though it held a meeting at the anti-graft agency headquarters, Commission III confirmed that there would be no intervention related to corruption eradication.

"I guarantee (there will be no intervention, red)," said the Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian Parliament Herman Hery at the Red and White Building of the KPK, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, July 7.

He explained that this meeting was deliberately held in the KPK building because they wanted to know the conditions there. Because, Commission III of the DPR RI for the period 2019-2024 admitted that he had never seen the condition of the building.

In addition, this meeting was also held as a form of strengthening the partnership between Commission III of the DPR RI and the KPK.

Herman emphasized that there was nothing special about the presence of Commission III to the KPK. Because according to the MD3 Law, the DPR RI may hold meetings inside or outside the DPR RI Building.

"We can come to our work partners' places. Like yesterday, the law enforcement committee came to Bareskrim, to the Attorney General's Office. I think (RDP in KPK, red) is normal," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the closed meeting, this has been decided by two parties, both the Commission III of the DPR RI and the KPK. The reason is to minimize any misperceptions in the meeting.

"There are matters that may be sensitive to be questioned by members. So that it does not become something that is misinterpreted," he said.

Meanwhile, when asked about the possibility of discussing the alleged violation of the code of ethics committed by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri while riding a luxury private helicopter, Herman admitted that he did not know for sure.

However, he said that each member would have been ready to submit questions to the Supervisory Board and the KPK leadership. "All members already have questions. As the chairman, I only lead the meeting and I do not set the agenda for questions," he concluded.
