Together With Sri Sultan Compensation For Mako Bromob And Mount Lawu Terrorist Victims, LPSK: The State Is Present
JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) handed over compensation to two victims of the terrorism incident at Mount Lawu, Karang Anyar and two heirs of victims of the terrorist attack at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters, Depok.
The compensation for each victim and the victim's heirs was handed over by the Head of LPSK Hasto Atmojo Suroyo, the Governor of DI Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, and two Deputy Chairs of the LPSK, namely Susilaningtias and Antonius PS Wibowo. The handover of compensation took place at the DI Yogyakarta Governor's office, Tuesday, September 7th.
"Compensation is a form of state presence through LPSK for victims of terrorism. The value of compensation will not be proportional to the suffering of the victims, but at least the state shows its presence to the victims," said LPSK Chairman Hasto Atmojo Suroyo in a written statement, Antara, Jakarta.
Two victims of the terrorism incident in Mount Lawu received a total compensation of Rp. 87.49 million. Meanwhile, the two heirs of the victims of the terrorist attack at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters received a total compensation of Rp. 119.2 million.
This compensation is paid after the court's decision no. 115/PID.SUS/2021/PN.JKT.TIM for the Mount Lawu terrorism case, and court decision No.526/PID.SUS/2020/PN.JKT.TIM for the terrorism case at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters.
Of the two terrorism cases, continued Hasto, the judges have already sentenced the perpetrators. The perpetrators of the terrorism incident at Mount Lawu were sentenced to 6 years in prison, while the perpetrators of the terrorism incident at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters were sentenced to the death penalty.
At the event, a Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between LPSK and the DIY Provincial Government. The Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties was signed by the Chairman of LPSK Hasto Atmojo Suroyo and the Governor of DIY Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X.
According to Hasto, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is expected to provide support for the activities of the DIY Representative LPSK, realize the implementation of protection services by the LPSK in DIY, and realize the mechanisms and procedures for cooperation in efforts to provide services to fulfill the rights of witnesses and victims.
There are several things that are the scope of the agreement. These include providing protection services to witnesses and victims, socializing witness and victim protection programs, supporting activities in witness and victim protection services, as well as cooperation in various other forms of activity.
Hasto explained, in carrying out the provision of protection and assistance, LPSK can cooperate with the relevant authorities in accordance with Article 36 of the Witness and Victim Protection Law.
"LPSK sees the strategic role of local governments in assisting and contributing to the fulfillment of the rights of witnesses and victims of criminal acts," said Hasto.
