Bike To Work Community Has The Cycling Permit On Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin

JAKARTA - Head of the B2W Community, Fahmi Saimina, confirmed that his party had received news from the Traffic Directorate Metro Jaya Police (Polda), Commissioner Pol Sambodo regarding the permitting of bike-to-work (B2W) bicycles to pass through roads with an odd-even license plate regulation system on Jalan Sudirman, Thamrin, and Rasuna Said.

This decision is the result of negotiations between the bike-to-work (B2W) cyclist community and the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya.

"He gave permission to workers who use bicycle transportation modes to cross Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin", Fahmi told reporters, Tuesday, September 7.

Fahmi said the good news was conveyed by the Dirlantas through WA with the Indonesian B2W Advocacy Team last night.

Confirmed separately, Sambodo also confirmed that his party had allowed bike-to-work cyclists to pass through odd-even lanes. "Bike to work is allowed", he said.

Previously, the police had banned bicycles from crossing the odd-even system for fear of causing crowds of groups of cyclists that could trigger the transmission of COVID-19.

However, B2W considers the ban discriminatory. This is because many residents use their bicycles as a means of transportation to go to and from work.
