PPKM Outside Java-Bali Extended Again Until 20 September
JAKARTA - The government has decided to extend the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) outside Java-Bali until September 20. Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that during PPKM this time a number of regions experienced a decrease in levels.
According to Airlangga, there was a decrease in the number of regencies/cities that experienced a decline in PPKM levels from level 4 to level 3, from 34 to 23. Meanwhile, the number of provinces implementing PPKM Level 4 also decreased from seven provinces to two provinces, namely East Kalimantan and East Kalimantan. North Kalimantan.
Level 3 is applied in 314 districts/cities. This number increased from the previous 303 regencies/cities. Meanwhile, PPKM level 2 is applied to 49 districts/cities the same as before.
"The government has decided to extend (PPKM) from 7 to 20 September," he said in a virtual press conference, Monday, September 6.
In addition, Airlangga said active cases outside Java-Bali continued to decline. The decline continues even though the contribution of cases outside Java-Bali dominates, which is 60 percent. According to him, the highest decline, said Airlangga, occurred in Nusa Tenggara, which was up to 73 percent.
Then, the recovery rate outside Java-Bali reached 90 percent or lower than the national 92 percent. However, the death rate is 2.99 percent, lower than the national 3.29 percent.
"(The decision to extend the PPKM period is in accordance with the direction of the President in a limited meeting (ratas). Once again underlining what was conveyed by the President that the pandemic is not over and this virus cannot be completely eliminated," he said.
Airlangga said in a limited meeting, Jokowi also asked that the acceleration of COVID-19 vaccination would be the main focus in handling the pandemic. Especially, in 5 regions that will hold the National Sports Week (PON).
But outside those areas, said Airlangga, Jokowi also asked for a number of areas with lower vaccination rates than the national level to pay attention. Among them are Aceh, West Sumatra, Lampung, South Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, North Maluku, and Papua.
