Good News From Basuki Hadimuljono: Ahmad Yani Airport Fly Over Semarang Will Be Completed And Ready For Use

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the construction of the Ahmad Yani Fly Over which connects Madukoro Street with Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang City, Central Java Province.

Currently, the flyover construction has been carried out a loading test by the Road Tunnel and Bridge Safety Commission (KKJTJ) and is waiting for the results before operating to support traffic to and from Ahmad Yani Airport. Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of an international standard airport needs to be supported by dedicated road access.

"All international airports in the Metropolitan National Strategic Area (KSN) such as Soekarno-Hatta in Jakarta, Juanda in Surabaya, Kualanamu in Medan, Hasanudin in Makasar and Ngurah Rai in Denpasar have been supported by freeways", Minister Basuki said in a written statement, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 6.

The starting point of this flyover from Anjasmoro Street across Arteri Yos Sudarso Street extends to Madukoro Street. So far, the road that is the access to the airport has the status of a city road so that it is still mixed between local traffic and traffic to surrounding housing, including side barriers that interfere with the smooth flow of traffic in front of the airport area. The existence of the Ahmad Yani Fly Over is expected to facilitate vehicle access to and from the airport due to the relocation of the new terminal of General Ahmad Yani Airport.

The construction of the Ahmad Yani Fly Over uses State Sharia Securities (SBSN) for the multi-year 2020-2021 amounting to IDR 149.3 billion. The flyover construction has a length of 1.2 km and a width of 10.25 meters consisting of four lanes and two lanes.

Commitment Making Officer (PPK) 3.6 of Central Java Province, Arif Agus Styawan, said that on Wednesday, August 25, Ahmad Yani's Fly Overload test was carried out by the Bridge Directorate, Bridge Hall with KKJTJ to ensure the feasibility and safety of the flyover construction. After it is declared safe and everything has been tidied up, then the traffic test can be carried out.

"We will invite relevant agencies from Transportation to jointly carry out coordination to check the completeness or lack of signs at FO Ahmad Yani. We are also still waiting for the results of the load test, later before opening traffic, a trial will be carried out", said Arif.

Currently, the work that is still being done is the process of installing ornaments to beautify the flyover in coordination with the City and Provincial Governments. This General Ahmad Yani Airport Access Flyover, Semarang carries local culture as outlined in its architectural design. The ornament design used is the result of the community's choice through voting conducted on social media some time ago.

"The transformation of the architectural firm on the flyover accommodates the philosophy of local Javanese culture combined with the ornaments of Dutch, Chinese and Arabic cultural heritage buildings that are poured into hardscape designs and modern contemporary-style sculptures", explained Arif.
