Barcelona's Difficult Choice About Coutinho: Keep Paying Liverpool To Be Played, Too High Salary To Be Sold

JAKARTA - Philippe Coutinho is still struggling to get a regular position at Barcelona since his arrival in 2018. However, at present, he has recovered from injury and coach Ronald Koeman views him as a key player.

It is estimated that Coutinho will find it easier to stay in the starting eleven in the coming weeks. However, there is reportedly a clause stipulating that if the Brazilian plays 100 games for the Blaugrana then the Catalan club will have to pay Liverpool an additional 20 million euros.

Launching MARCA, so far, Coutinho has made 90 appearances for the Blaugrana. So, he's close to the reported numbers.

However, Barcelona can't afford to pay Liverpool a figure of this magnitude given their precarious financial situation.

It was never fully confirmed whether the clause did exist. But what is certain is that Coutinho's contract at Camp Nou runs until 2023 and the club is looking to sell him this summer.

But once again, Barca is not easy to let go of the player because other clubs do not want to pay him a very high salary.

When Coutinho arrived at Barcelona, he signed a contract worth 13.5 million euros net per season, but, with such a contract at the age of 29, his departure this summer became unlikely.

We'll see how Koeman deals with this situation and how often the Dutch coach plays Coutinho.
