PPP Is Shocked That The Wife Of The East Kutai Regent, Whose Cadres Are Also Involved In The KPK OTT

JAKARTA - The Wasekjen of the United Development Party (PPP) Achmad Baidowi (Awiek) was shocked after hearing the news from a cadre, namely the chairman of the East Kutai DPRD Encek UR Firgasih, who was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) with her husband, East Kutai Regent Ismunandar.

Moreover, he could not communicate with Encek or with his family after the silent operation occurred.

"We are shocked by the information and so far there has been no communication with him or his family regarding the latest information," Awiek said when contacted by reporters, Friday, July 3.

He said PPP would still prioritize the presumption of innocence and await further information from the KPK regarding the OTT.

"After that, the PPP took action in an organizational manner," he said.

Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted hand arrest operations in several locations, namely Jakarta, East Kutai and Samarinda.

In this silent operation, the KPK arrested East Kutai Regent Ismunandar and his wife. The arrest was allegedly related to receiving bribes related to the procurement of goods and services within the East Kutai Regency Government.

Deputy Chairman of the KPK, Nawawi Pamolango, said that the KPK investigating team arrested the East Kutai Regent and his wife at a hotel in Jakarta. Apart from arresting the Regent, the KPK also arrested a Head of Bappeda.

"We secure the regent and his wife and a head of Bappeda from a hotel in Jakarta," told reporters in Jakarta, Friday, July 3.

The East Kutai Regent and his wife and other parties caught in the operation are currently being investigated at the KPK's Red and White House, Jakarta. This was conveyed by the Acting Spokesperson for the KPK in the field of prosecution Ali Fikri.

"For several parties who were secured in Jakarta, currently there are seven people in the KPK building and are still being investigated by the KPK team, including the East Kutai Regent and his wife," Ali said in his written statement.

Meanwhile, the number of people arrested in East Kutai and Samarinda has reached eight. They have already been investigated at the Samarinda Police and will soon be brought to Jakarta.
