Viral Crowd Of Events Attended By NTT Governor Viktor Laiskodat, NTT Police Coordination To The COVID-19 Task Force

KUPANG - The East Nusa Tenggara Police stated that the results of communication and coordination with the COVID-19 Task Force found that there were two events in the alleged violation of health protocols in Semau involving the Governor of NTT Viktor B Laiskodat.

"So the team that has been formed has been working and the temporary results of the team get results that there are several stages, both official events and additional events in these activities," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Rishian Krisna B, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 1.

He said that from the two events, the issue of negligence in the implementation of health protocols was still being observed.

This was conveyed by Kombes Krisna regarding the results of the team work formed by the NTT Police Chief Inspector General Lotharia Latif to communicate and coordinate to investigate the case.

Kombes Krisna said, since the beginning the NTT Police had worked optimally and formed a team to investigate the alleged violation of the health protocol.

"The National Police really respects democracy and the rule of law, all complaints or public reports must be reviewed so that they are in accordance with applicable regulations so as to provide 'equality before the law' to all citizens.

Kombes Krisna also added that in the event of negligence in supervising the health process as happened, the priority was the COVID-19 Task Force.

"We (NTT Regional Police, ed) will continue to work and coordinate with the Kupang provincial and district COVID-19 Task Force to resolve this issue," he said.

As previously reported, a viral video on social media showed crowds and alleged violations of health protocols during the inauguration of the NTT Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD) on Friday, August 27 at Otan Tourism Beach, Otan Village, Semau District, Kupang Regency.

The event was attended by NTT Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat, NTT Deputy Governor Josef Nae Soi and almost all regents and mayors throughout NTT.

The event was also attended by a number of local artists and several regional heads actually sang along without paying attention to health protocols.

The incident then sparked a lot of comments and also some academics asked the police to intervene to investigate the alleged violation of health protocols in the area.
