Broken Road Access, Residents In Sigi Central Sulawesi Walk 15 Km Collecting Coffins To Funeral Homes
SIGI - The access of the Palu-Kulawi trans road is currently not accessible to four-wheeled vehicles following landslides at a number of points in the mountainous area of Lindu District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi.
"There are three major landslide points, at this time only motorbikes can pass by car, we can't," explained Kulawi Police Chief, Iptu Ahsan as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 1.
As a result of the landslide, residents were forced to walk while delivering the bodies to the funeral home on Monday, August 30 and Tuesday, August 31. The distance from the breaking point of the road due to landslides to Lindu District is also quite far, which is about 15 Kilometers.
"Reports from my members who are guarding it, the Palu-Kulawi route, including from the three-way intersection to Lindu is now cut off, there are several landslide points, the network also does not exist and the electricity goes out,"
For now, according to the police chief, almost the entire area of Kulawi sub-district has been raining again.
The Regency Government and the TNI/Polri are still trying to open the access road using heavy equipment.
Heavy rains that have flushed the Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi in the last few days have caused a number of areas to experience floods and landslides.
Landslides occurred at several points in Kulawi District, and flash floods occurred in Rogo Village, South Dolo District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi.
