Moeldoko: Slander Of Rent-seeking Hunters If Allowed To Break Trust, Even My Wife's Children's Trust
JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said reporting by Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) and its researcher, Egi Primayoha, to the police regarding allegations of rent-seeking through the distribution network of the antiparasitic drug Ivermectin needs to be done.
He called what was conveyed by ICW and its researcher, Egi Primayogha, a serious accusation.
"Because of what? Because there is defined as someone who seeks profit because of power. I think this is very serious for that, I have to give a response," said Moeldoko at his residence, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, August 31.
According to him, so far he has often been accused of being involved in various corruption cases such as Jiwasraya, Asabri. However, he admitted that he did not need to react.
However, this time the former TNI Commander could not just remain silent. Because accusations that end in slander like those conveyed by ICW will damage the confidence of many parties towards him, including the trust of his wife and children.
"Slander like that when I allow it will damage even the trust of my wife and children will change to me," said Moeldoko.
Moeldoko also said that what ICW said to him was a form of character assassination. Moreover, the method of collecting research information from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is considered only compatible.
So he could not silence the rent-seeking accusation and chose to report it to the police.
Regarding the police report, Moeldoko's lawyer, Otto Hasibuan, said it would be carried out as soon as possible. However, he couldn't be sure for sure.
"We will report as soon as possible. We will let you know the date when we want to report," he said.
Previously reported, Moeldoko stated that he and his daughter, Joanina Novinda Rachman had nothing to do with PT Harsen Laboratories as the producer of Ivermectin which is now a COVID-19 drug.
This answers allegations of his involvement with PT Harsen Laboratories, which is the manufacturer of the drug Ivermectin. The request was sent through a subpoena.
In addition, Moeldoko also demanded that ICW researcher Egi Primayogha submit evidence for the accusations which he considered slander.
