Several Things Are Highlighted After The Closing Of CdM Meeting III And DRM PON XX 2021 In Papua

JAKARTA - The closing of the CdM Meeting III and DRM PON XX 2021 in Papua began with the submission of files from the Legislation Commission led by Major General TNI (Ret.) Soedarmo to Yunus Wonda.

"Arriving in Papua with a smile, returning from Papua with a smile," said the Daily Chair of the XX National Sports Week (PB.PON) Committee, Yunus Wonda expressed hope when closing the Chef de Mission (CdM) Meeting III and Delegate Registration Meeting ( DRM) Saturday night, August 28th.

"From the results of the determination or validation of the legitimacy of all athletes that have been determined, there are 4,176 athletes for men and 2,890 for women, a total of 7,066 athletes," added Soedarmo who is also Deputy II Chairperson of the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI).

The existence of the work of the Legislative Commission is expected to minimize problems with the status or data of athletes when the match is held later. One of the potential problems that can be read is the lack of clarity about the athlete's status due to the incompatibility of the data possessed by the athlete.

Therefore, it is important to make decisions regarding the status of athletes. And these efforts are related to DRM which will be held between 27-28 August 2021.

"The DRM is the finalization of the status of the athletes in which province, because there are several dynamics," explained the Chair of the Panwasrah Major General TNI (Ret.) Dr. Suwarno.

Several other highlights were put forward by Suwarno. For example, about athletes who move provinces but are still registered as athletes from the previous province. Another example is those who live around DKI Jakarta but train and compete for the capital city.

"In order not to cause mistakes, we have to verify all of them, even though their ID cards are West Java or Banten, but he was inaugurated as a Jakarta athlete," he continued.

Suwarno also explained about the role of CdM III, which was the first time at the 2021 PON XX in Papua. "The substance of CdM III is the finalization of the PON implementation plan, regarding how to service prospective guests," said Suwarno who is also Deputy I General Chair of the Central KONI.

The finalization aims to clarify various matters such as those related to matches, equipment, ceremonies, accommodation, consumption, transportation, health, the use of logos, and so on.

Post-meeting highlights

Even though it was over, the CdM Meeting III still left homework for PB.PON XX according to the Chair of the Panwasrah. The work that remains to be done by PB.PON XX is to make a guidebook and send it to all contingents.

"The guidebooks - the guidebooks that are currently unable to be brought home by the Provincial KONI will immediately be finalized and submitted to be sent to the Provincial KONI - KONI, because it is a guidebook on the services that will be provided," said Suwarno.

Regarding the smooth running of PON XX activities, Suwarno recommended that each province send a team to Papua first to ensure accommodation for each region.

Suwarno also emphasized the importance of all parties related to PON XX implementing strict health protocols. "For the contingent of athletes and so on, before leaving it is recommended to do a 5-day quarantine, besides they must get a vaccine, and pass PCR as a requirement to go here," he said.

Arriving in Papua, the entire contingent was limited in its space of movement. They just seem to be quarantined, only allowed to go to accommodation and venues. Restrictions on contact with people of the same contingent are also limited, let alone different groups.

Especially for sports with body contact, an antigen test will be carried out before each match. If you are negative for Covid-19, you can only be allowed to compete.

These efforts were made to make PON XX a success. "From the first PON to PON XIX, the PON in Papua has only given great attention to the central government," he said while mentioning the venue which was built by the central government with international standards and support from other fields.

The realization of the central government's support is an impetus for all parties to make PON XX a success, according to Suwarno. "If the XX PON later does not run optimally, it's nobody's fault, but all of us. Come on, I invite you to unite your heart," he said.
