Minister Of Transportation: Construction Of Tirtonadi Solo Becomes An Example Of Terminal Revitalization

SOLO - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the construction of Tirtonadi Solo, which is still in the process of being a pilot for revitalizing terminal functions.

The Minister of Transportation said that this step was taken following the decline in the demand for bus transportation by the public. Thus, inevitably have to think of other solutions to optimize the function of the terminal.

"We know that bus transportation is declining somewhat, so we have to think creatively about what functions can be collaborated with transportation activities, 'pools', or bus terminals," he said, quoted by Antara, Saturday, August 28.

Moreover, according to him, Tirtonadi Terminal is unique in the form of a "skybridge" or a bridge that connects with Solobalapan Station.

"And Solobalapan will be connected to the airport (Adi Soemarmo Airport), so it will become a superhub. So it must be thought carefully, what has been developed, namely a sports center, a food center, this illustrates that (Tirtonadi) is the new center of Solo activities," he continued.

The Minister of Transportation also hopes that this development effort can be imitated by other terminals. In fact, it is also open if there are people or private companies who want to rent.

"If there is an idea from the guardian to make a 'fair', what kind of 'monggo' is this. It's a big building, consisting of two floors so hopefully, it can be useful. Next September (the construction) can be completed and can be used immediately," said Budi Karya.

Meanwhile, Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka hopes that the place can become a center of economic activity.

"It could be the hub for Solo residents. When it opens in September, hopefully, it will be a trigger to accelerate the economy in Solo. Once again, a place like this inevitably brings in a 'crowd' (crowd), the hope is that the pandemic can be over so that people can move back," he said.
