Many Problem Assets, KPK Asks Local Government For Commitment And Seriousness
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Lili Pintauli Siregar, asked for the commitment and seriousness of the Local Government in controlling and resolving problem assets.
Lili said the KPK would fully support efforts to settle local government assets in dispute with various parties.
"We hope that the regional government is consistent in controlling and resolving problem assets. The KPK will encourage and be ready to assist regional governments in problem-solving programs, both with fellow regional governments, with the central government, and with other parties", said Lili as quoted by Antara, Friday, July 27.
She conveyed this during the signing of the Minutes of Handover of Assets (BAST) of the Tangerang City Government to the Tangerang Regency Government at the Tangerang City Government Central Building, Thursday, August 26.
Lili revealed that the settlement of asset disputes between local governments is a classic problem that often occurs in local governments throughout Indonesia which is generally the impact of regional expansion.
Until now, continued Lili, many disputes over the expansion of assets have not been resolved, even though it has been ten years since the division events occurred. Therefore, he emphasized the importance of local government consistency to improve asset management to be used for the benefit of the community.
"This condition will cause problems in the utilization, recording, and maintenance of regional assets. Our focus is on controlling and saving government assets and optimizing the use of government assets for the welfare of the community", said Lili.
