Observers Assess PDIP 'Tie' Gerindra To Reduce Luhut Pandjaitan's Domination
JAKARTA - Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, accompanies President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in reviewing the access road to the Planned State Capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan Province, Tuesday, August 24.
On the same day, the Executive Board of the Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan (PDIP) and the Gerindra Party held a meeting at the PDIP Central Executive Board Office, Central Jakarta.
The meeting of the Secretary-General of the PDI-P, Hasto Kristiyanto, with the Secretary-General of Gerindra, Ahmad Muzani, Tuesday, August 24, was seen as a way for PDIP to bind the Gerindra Party together.
Political observer and Executive Director of Lingkar Madani (Lima), Ray Rangkuti, sees the bull party's approach to Prabowo Subianto's party as an effort to emphasize Jokowi to reduce the dominance of Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
This is because Jokowi always prioritizes Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in every policy. It was as if the president did not believe in the existence of the cadres of the two major parties in the cabinet.
“So to reduce the dominance of Mr. Jokowi's 'golden child', Luhut Binsar Panjaitan. This is because the role him in the cabinet is too large, it is clear that the best cadres of PDIP and Gerindra are less than optimal. None of the cabinet members from this party are involved outside of their main duties", said Ray Rangkuti, Friday, August 27.
