PHRI: 3,150 Employees Of Hotels, Restaurants And Entertainment Venues In Banyuwangi Laid Off, Threatened With Layoffs
BANYUWANGI - The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Banyuwangi, East Java, said 3,150 hotel and restaurant employees were threatened with termination of employment (PHK).
During PPKM, as many as 2,887 were laid off and employed alternately. Meanwhile, 263 employees of entertainment establishments were temporarily laid off without pay.
"Certainly there will be layoffs if it drags on like this," said the chairman of PHRI Banyuwangi, Zaenal Muttaqin, Wednesday, August 25.
Zaenal said his party had met with the Banyuwangi Tourism Office and the Banyuwangi DPRD.
He hoped that there would be leeway in organizing events at hotels with 50 percent capacity and strict health protocols.
"We ask to give us relaxation and our operational flexibility. Give us leeway during events or meetings," he said.
Then the restaurant is also asked to be given leeway to eat on the spot. Because the take away rules don't really help with operational costs.
Head of Banyuwangi Disbudpar MY Bramuda said he would encourage official meetings and other activities to be held at the hotel.
"We encourage meetings and win win solutions. We must also encourage hotels to be ready to accept tourists after PPKM," he said.
