Gojek's Form Of Concern For The 430 Employees Affected By Layoffs
JAKARTA - Recently the ride-hailing company Gojek decided to close two of its services, GoLife and GoFood Festival. As a result of this decision, Gojek had to lay off 430 employees.
As a form of concern and solidarity, Gojek held free training for partners who had been laid off. It is hoped that this solidarity program can help them to develop their business in the future.
"For that, allow us to appreciate the partnership that has been established so far with all of you ladies and gentlemen. We are offering the Covid-19 Partner Solidarity Program," wrote Gojek Co-CEOs Kevin Aluwi and Andre Soelistyo in a letter addressed to GoLife and GoFood partners. Festival, Friday, 26 June.
It was explained that this program aims to improve skills through online training which is expected to be a useful provision for partners to earn additional income.
"From the bottom of our hearts, we are grateful for the partnership and support of ladies and gentlemen. We believe that you will continue to work and remain a mainstay of the Indonesian people," he continued.
Various skills have been provided, as a form of Gojek's responsibility at the end of the service of its partners. Prepared skills programs, ranging from training to start a home business, using social media for business to starting a culinary business.
This training is provided to all BP Business Partners (BP) and Service Providers (SP), with a selection of curated class materials. For partners with disabilities, Gojek has also prepared special training in collaboration with DNetwork.net - the Disability network.
Gojek also provides cash for active partners who meet the criteria to support daily needs during the transition period. The GoLife service will end on 27 July.
Change Business StrategyGoJek announced the company's strategy to prioritize core businesses as part of a long-term plan to face the COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on e-money services, transportation and food and beverage delivery to ensure business continuity.
"Our focus on the core business is to ensure the sustainable growth of GoJek and be able to survive in the midst of this pandemic which we don't know when it will end. GoJek strives to maintain the ecosystem as a whole so that it can still have a wide social impact to around 2 million partners and 500,000 MSMEs, "said Kevin and Andre.
The two Co-CEOs revealed that the core business services, namely online transportation (GoRide and GoCar), then food and basic necessities (GoFood), and digital wallets (GoPay) are urgently needed by the community amid the pandemic. Following this announced strategy, GoJek will concentrate most of its resources on supporting the core business.
