Studying Novel Baswedan Et Al's Letter, Jokowi Will Find The Most Appropriate Response

JAKARTA - Special Staff to the Minister of State Secretary, Faldo Maldini, said the letter was sent by an employee of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) who did not pass the National Insight Test Assessment (TWK) was still being studied.

The letter sent by Novel Baswedan and 56 KPK employees contained a request to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) that they are appointed as State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

Moreover, based on the findings of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia and the National Human Rights Commission, the implementation of the test contained maladministration, abuse of authority, and violations of rights.

"Currently (the letter, ed) is still being studied what kind of response is the most appropriate in following up", Faldo told reporters quoted on Wednesday, August 25.

He said the government wanted to find the right solution but also put forward the principles of good governance, not violating the rules and regulations. "What is certain is that eradicating corruption is our commitment", said Faldo.

In addition to conducting studies, his party also continues to monitor the debates of experts related to TWK and the appropriate follow-up for these dozens of employees.

"The government listens to all aspirations. Later, if there are further developments, we will inform you", he said.

Previously reported, representatives of 57 KPK employees who were declared unable to become ASN due to failing TWK, Hotman Tambunan said the request in the letter was made because the Ombudsman found that maladministration, abuse of authority, article insertion, and other violations resulted in corrective action to the KPK and the Civil Service Agency State (BKN).

Meanwhile, National Human Rights Commission, said Hotman, found that there were 11 types of violations in the implementation of the test as a condition for the transfer of employment status. Of the two institutions, said Hotman, there are two similarities in the results of the report, namely asking 57 KPK employees who did not pass the TWK to be appointed as ASN.

Moreover, the planning, implementation, and determination of the results of the TWK are considered problematic, violating the laws and regulations so that they cannot be the basis for the appointment of anti-corruption commission employees to become ASN.

"So, it is fitting for all current KPK employees to be appointed as KPK ASN. Moreover, changing the status of KPK employees to ASN is an order in Law Number 19 of 2019," he told reporters quoted on Tuesday, August 24.

For information, there were actually 75 employees who were declared not to have passed the TWK as a condition for the transfer of employee status. However, from this number, 24 employees can still be fostered and appointed as ASN with the condition that they must attend state defense training and national insight.

So, the total number of employees who will actually be fired will be 51 people. However, because there are 6 members of the 24 employees who refuse to participate in the training, the number of employees who will be fired will increase to 57 people.

The 57 employees include senior investigator Novel Baswedan, Chairman of the KPK Employee Forum who is also investigator Yudi Purnomo, Director of Anti-Corruption Campaign and Socialization of the KPK Giri Suprapdiono, and Head of the KPK Task Force Harun Al-Rasyid.
